Based on the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film, adapted to the stage in 2005, this play is packed with nonstop laughs, quick change zany characters, an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and romantic entanglements.
Our hero, Richard Hannay--a man with a boring life, meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. As he tries to unravel the mystery and searches for a mysterious organization called The 39 Steps, the media and police are hot on his trail in a nationwide manhunt for the murderer! The 39 Steps is a riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, perfectly adapted at Southwest High to the simple forms of the black box theatre.
