Students & Families
"It doesn't matter if you are a prop handler or if you are the lead in the show, you are no less important to the production, and I'll notice if you aren't here." ~ Margaret Berg, director
The Theatre program is proud to have a strong tradition of student and family involvement at Southwest, as well as a deep commitment from staff and leadership. Students learn more than fine acting and technical skills; they are challenged in a supportive and diverse environment. We believe this shapes their success in every discipline they encounter. Welcome to the family.
All Southwest High School students in good standing are welcome to audition. Auditions are generally held after school, with call-backs and final casting posted outside the theatre office. See the calendar for dates; click here for the audition form.
Theatre is part of the SWHS Performing Arts Calendar, which is also included in the main school website calendar. Specific show rehearsal schedules are distributed to participants and families for each production.
All students are allowed to participate in theatre regardless of financial status. If there is a concern with participation fees or any other financial obstacle, students or family members may confidentially contact either Ms. Berg or Ms. Michel.
Theatre students have the opportunity to travel each year in the spring. Details will be available at a later date. In April of 2016, Theatre and Dance students traveled together to New York City.
